Vivo is launching the first phone with an under-the-display fingerprint scanner

On January 24, China’s Vivo will launch a smartphone with an under-the-display fingerprint sensor. 

You may have already forgotten about this technology, and I don’t blame you, but just months ago before the launch of iPhone X, it was widely rumored that Apple’s new flagship would have a fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen. 

Alas, it was not meant to be: Apple opted for a face scanning technology instead, and Samsung, who was also rumored to be working on an under-the-display fingerprint scanner, kept announcing phones with a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.  Read more…
